Welcome to the Hospice and Palliative Nursing Specialty
ONLINE EXAM APPLICATION INTRODUCTION
The NBCHPN® Board of Directors and Applied Measurement Professionals (AMP), the testing service, offer an online application process for the:
· Hospice and Palliative RN Certification Exam (initial certification OR renewal of credential)
· LP/VN Hospice and Palliative Certification Exam (initial certification OR renewal of credential)
· Nursing Assistant Hospice and Palliative Certification Exam (initial certification OR renewal of credential)
· Administrator Hospice and Palliative Certification Exam (initial certification)
Notice to all APNs applying for initial certification: The APN applying for the Hospice and Palliative Advanced Practice Certification Exam must apply by mail due to the additional documentation required. Transcripts must be mailed with your application for initial certification. If you are an APN applying for recertification you must submit the APRN HPAR application which can be found under the APN tab on our website between January 1 - March 1 of the year your certification expires.
Specifics related to the eligibility criteria for each exam are provided in the Candidate Handbook and MUST be reviewed prior to completing an application.
Applicant MUST submit a PAPER application to AMP for processing if you are:
- requesting special testing accomodations (ADA related)
- an APN applying for initial certification

The online application process is as follows:
- Applicant MUST be prepared to provide:
> Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association (HPNA) membership number to determine eligibility for membership discount (if applicable)
> NBCHPN® Certification number for candidates renewing the credential
> Choice of test assessment center if scheduling appointment online per the AMP website, www.goamp.com
> Credit card information (Visa, MasterCard, Discover)
- Applicant provides personal data and choice of specialty exam on application form housed on a secure AMP website (Please provide your HOME address on your online application as ADDRESS 1)
- Applicant receives notice of fee validation for selected exam which is based upon:
> current hospice and palliative certification in the exam level selected
> current membership status in the Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association. (Applicant must have their HPNA membership number in order to receive membership discount. If application for a new HPNA membership has been made the same day as application for the certification exam, the non-member exam fee will display and the exam applicant must agree to pay that non-member fee to complete the exam application process.)
- Applicant reviews information and agrees. Applicant completes process of applying for the next scheduled certification exam which includes provision of credit card information for billing at time of application. Applicant will receive online verification of application receipt from the testing company, Applied Measurement Professionals (AMP).

The current online application IS ONLY FOR THE UPCOMING CERTIFICATION EXAM WINDOW. The application must be received by the testing company on or before 11:59 PM CT on the exam deadline date.
